About James Yount
An alumnus of Drury College (now Drury University), James Yount holds a degree in Business Administration and an impressive record as a former Drury Swim Team Captain. During his academic career, Jim Yount became the school’s fifth-ever male swimmer inducted into the Hall-of-Fame, leading his team to countrywide collegiate success as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA) Champions in 1981. Additionally, 21-time All-American Swimmer James Yount earned multiple accolades for his record-breaking accomplishments as a respected college athlete.
In addition to his passion for water sports, Jim Yount has developed an interest in a number of recreational activities over the years. A Financial Consultant who travels frequently, James Yount stays active during business trips to New York by running around a New York City reservoir. Jim Yount also enjoys running on the beach. Currently, Jim Yount is training for a 10K race by running hills in Morro Bay and Laguna Beach.
Also an avid climber, James Yount has perfected his rock climbing skills with American Mountain Guides Association’s (AMGA) Certified Instructor Bob Gaines. Bob Gaines is the Director of Vertical Adventures Rock Climbing School, the country’s leading institution of its kind, according to Outside Magazine. Jim Yount enjoys climbing in Joshua Tree National Park, as well as camping, hiking, and off-roading in his recently restored Land Rover Defender 90.
James Yount spends his leisure time watching cooking shows and baking using his mother’s old recipes. An avid reader, Jim Yount lists J.D. Salinger, Tom Clancy, and Olen Steinhauer among his favorite authors.
